About The Atypical Working Scheme

General Information

The Atypical Working Scheme allows non-EU nationals to work in Ireland on a short-term basis (in most cases for up to 90 days).

You can apply for permission under this scheme up to three months before your planned arrival date in Ireland to ensure there is enough time for the application to be processed and for travel arrangements to be made..

Once you receive a letter of approval, you will need to enter Ireland within 90 days and then you will be allowed to stay for up to 90 days for up to 90 days.

The actual period of time you will be allowed to spend working in Ireland under the scheme will be determined by the border officer upon entry depending on the period of the contract.

Eligibility

  • The employer and applicant’s eligibility depends on the job offer specifics and the applicant’s qualifications, skills, and experience.

  • The position can’t be on the Ineligible list of occupations
  • The period of the project must be not more than 90 days
  • The base salary (not including bonuses and allowances) must be at least the equivalent of an annual salary of 34,000 EUR (unless the contract is for an internship where the salary must the equivalent of the national minimum)
  • If you are from a visa required entry, you will also need an Employment visa before entering Ireland – this is a separate application that Visa First can also assist with
