FAQ

India offers several types of eVisas, each tailored for specific purposes. The most commonly used categories are tourist, business, and medical visas.
Note that there are certain entry and duration restrictions depending on each visa category.

It typically takes around a week to process an Indian eVisa.
However, it’s a good idea to apply in advance to allow for any unforeseen delays or issues, ensuring that you receive your eVisa on time before your travels.
You can apply up to 120 days (approximately four months) in advance of your intended date of travelling to India.

No, eVisas for India are generally not extendable. If you need to stay longer than the validity period of your eVisa, you’ll need to leave India and apply for a new visa. In the case of extenuating circumstances, an extension might be granted but the decision is solely upon the discretion of the local officer.

If your eVisa application for India is rejected, the immigration office will usually point out the reson. Oftentimes, you can review the reason for rejection if it’s included so you correct any issues in a future application.
You may be able to reapply after making the necessary corrections to your application based on the feedback.
If reapplying for an eVisa is not an option or if your application is repeatedly rejected, you may need to apply for a regular visa through an Indian embassy or consulate. This process involves more documentation and a formal interview.

To apply for an India eVisa for a child you need to fill out a separate application, similar to the way you apply for an adult. The parents or legal guardians can do it on behalf of the child.
The process is the same – you get all the documents ready, complete the visa application online, attach the documents, pay the visa fee, and submit the application.
